Stop translating the same words over and over.
Mastery captures every word you look up while reading, then trains you until it sticks. 3 minutes a day.

You read an article and reach for the dictionary. Again. You understood the paragraph, but that one word -- you've looked it up before. Maybe three times. Maybe ten.
You nod in a meeting when someone says "amortization." You think in your language and translate in your head.
This isn't a knowledge problem. You've seen these words.
Your brain just doesn't hold onto them.
Here's how Mastery works.
Step 1
Read normally.
Our Chrome extension captures every word you translate while browsing. Kindle sync imports your lookups automatically. Each word keeps the original sentence where you found it.

Step 2
Practice 3 minutes.
12 exercise types test every angle: translation, context, production, audio, disambiguation. The system picks the right exercise for each word based on how you're learning it.
Step 3
Watch words become yours.
Every word moves through 5 stages: Captured, Practicing, Stabilizing, Known, Mastered. Your Memory Mirror tracks the whole journey -- vocabulary size, growth, domain mastery.
What you've tried. Why it didn't work.
What Mastery does differently.
Google Translate
You translate, you forget, you translate again.
Mastery: Captures every translation and schedules retention automatically.
Anki
You build cards, manage decks, fight pile-up anxiety. Then you stop.
Mastery: Same FSRS algorithm. Zero card creation. No pile-up -- sessions are timed, not card-counted.
Duolingo
You finished the tree. You still can't read The Economist without a dictionary.
Mastery: Starts where Duolingo stops. Built for B2-C2. Your reading is the curriculum.
Doing nothing
You keep reading, keep forgetting, keep pretending.
Mastery: If 3 minutes a day could fix it, why wouldn't you?
Built on the FSRS algorithm (powering 700M+ reviews) · Frequency data from 1 billion words of linguistic research · Memory science, not gamification
Kindle readers: import your lookups.
Connect your Kindle via USB. Mastery imports every word you've looked up -- with the book, page, and original sentence. No manual entry.

Questions.
Is this another Duolingo?
No. Most language apps focus on beginners. Mastery is for people who already work in English and want to stop pretending they understand every word.
Why not just use Anki?
Same retention science (FSRS). Zero setup. You read, we handle the rest. No card creation, no deck management, no pile-up anxiety. If Anki worked for you, keep using it. If it didn't, this is why.
3 minutes a day? Really?
Yes. Research shows a short daily habit beats long occasional study sessions. The goal is a routine you actually stick to. Sessions are timed, not card-counted. No backlog ever builds up. Miss a day, miss a week -- your next session is still 3 minutes.
What happens to my data?
Your vocabulary data is yours. Export anytime. We don't sell data or show ads. We make money from subscriptions.
Is this only for English?
Right now, yes. We're building the best English vocabulary system first. Other languages are on the roadmap.
Why I built this.
I'm a non-native English speaker working in tech. I read in English every day -- articles, documentation, books. And for years, I kept translating the same words and forgetting them within a week.
I tried Anki. I spent more time building cards than learning. I tried Duolingo. I finished the tree and still couldn't read The Economist without a dictionary.
So I built what I wished existed: a system that captures words from my actual reading life and uses memory science to make them permanent. Mastery is the tool I use myself, every day.
